How Will They Age?

This time, lets ponder about the three recent generations of the Corvette.

Starting with the C5, I think it will age quite well. I personally love it’s exterior look better than the C6. There’s something about the flush and fluid design that looks edgy and cool!

The C6 will age well too, but I don’t think better than the C5. Not that the design is bad, but I think there’s something about it that I just cannot put to words that I just don’t think it’ll age as good as the C5.

But the C7....I don’t think it’ll age too well. Here’s why.

As much as I love that they fixed the areas I saw wrong with the C6 (being too rounded, flush roof to rear, sharp front and rear, ect.), and it instantly made both the C5 and C6 look outdated by comparison, there’s just so much going on, so much modern style, it’s not even overly aggressive. I just kinda flashy, and not elegant design, and I think the most elegant designs age the best.

So in short, the C5 will age the best, the C6 will age alright, and the C7....not so much.

I think that the C7 might age the best. Yes, it’s too aggressive in its styling. But I think when people look back on the Corvettes, they always look to the ones that really shook up the formula. The C2, the early C3, the first C1, they’re all cars that really set a lot of bold directions for styling. I think that the C7 will age well because people will view it in the same way. By contrast the C6 will age the worst, it’s too bland, too conservative, and much like the C4, has become the de-facto mid-life crisis car of the Corvette line. The C5 will be in the middle, it’ll be a car that either will age beautifully, or terribly, depending on your tastes.

I think the C6 will fare the worst out of the three. It always looked like a C5 with an aftermarket headlight conversion and body kit to me. It’s not a bad looking car, it just looks slightly tacky to my eye. The C5 has nice flowing lines and the C7 is sharp and aggressive. The C6 falls in the middle and is kinda forgettable in terms of looks.

But what do I know? Even the C4 is starting to look good to me.

Fair points. Heck, I think the C4 looks fine! It’s grown on me quite a bit since I’ve been on Oppo.
